Botivo takes over 1 year from start to long, bitter sweet finish, hand-blended in small batches at Lannock Farm, Hertfordshire in a growing community of makers.

WHERE WE MAKE BOTIVO

WHERE WE MAKE BOTIVO

Lannock Farm in Hertfordshire has been the home of Botivo since the beginning! And we plan to stay here for a long old time. We love the community, the beautiful countryside, and hey, home is where the heart is right?

WHO MAKES BOTIVO

WHO MAKES BOTIVO

Sam is the inventor of Botivo and still leads the production team today. Niki and Jon, who both have a background in brewing beer, support him in making each batch as delicious as the next.

SOURCING OUR INGREDIENTS

SOURCING OUR INGREDIENTS

We carefully source each ingredient and treat each one individually. Our rosemary and thyme is picked from the stem to avoid unwanted woodiness, the orange zest is from real oranges.  We never use flavourings or extracts. We even age the British apple cider vinegar we use to soften its acidity. These are just some of things we do to make sure the balance of Botivo is just right.

NO TWO BATCHES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME

NO TWO BATCHES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME

We doubt anyone would ever notice but there are subtle nuances between batches. We only use real ingredients so much like when you make wine, everything from the sun through to the terroir will shape the flavours of the batch. It’s this craft that makes it so special.

INFUSING

INFUSING

Unlike other non alcoholic drinks that are water based, Botivo has a base of British apple cider vinegar and honey. This is because they are amazing extractors of flavour and infusing fresh botanicals into this base creates a bold, complex drink that packs a punch.

WAX DIPPING

WAX DIPPING

Each bottle is then hand dipped with our signature yellow wax that is ready to unwind so you can pour and begin your evening.

Our Botivo can is our original Botivo but premixed and ready to go. No additives, no preservatives  - simply Botivo and soda water with a squeeze of orange mixed to perfection.

Meet Sam, our Botivo co-founder and very own Willy Wonka,

Sam noticed there was no real craft in the non alcoholic spirits space. Everything was outsourced to factories and made with flavourings, using shortcuts and no real ingredients. He felt that non alcoholic drinks deserved better. So, inspired by the bittersweet world of the aperitif, he took over an old milking parlour on Lannock Farm and set about to make his own.

The Botivo blend was born.

The Base

Apple Cider Vinegar & Organic Wildflower Honey

Native to England, and less acidic than other vinegars, such as sherry or red wine. Our apple cider vinegar comes from Hampshire, where it has been aged for at least one year to develop complexity and further soften the acidity.

We use fully organic, wildflower honey to balance out the complex botanical flavours.

The combination of the two means we don’t need anything artificial, as it’s a natural preservative. Meaning you can keep your Botivo for up to a year once opened. And you don't need to keep it in the fridge!

The Botanicals

A powerful combination of five raw ingredients infused into our signature base.

Wormwood

Wormwood

An intensely bitter botanical and powerful digestive, this distinctively aromatic herb is used in the production of most absinthes and vermouths. In fact, the word vermouth is the French pronunciation of the German word wermut, or wormwood.

Rosemary

Rosemary

Wonderfully aromatic, this evergreen shrub is reckoned by herbalists to be stimulating and mind clearing. We use British rosemary whenever it is in season.

Orange zest

Orange zest

Bringing a subtle citrus note to Botivo, this element harmoniously binds all of the ingredients together.

Thyme

Thyme

Less commonly found in aperitifs, we think this aromatic herb adds a delightful layer of complexity to the mix. And it's known to help clear the sinuses! We use British when it is in season.

Gentian

Gentian

With roots famous for adding a lovely woody and bitter taste, this alpine flower is a key ingredient in many cocktail bitters, aperitifs and vermouths. Not native to the UK, we import ours from France.

Committed to using British apples

The People Trust of Endangered Species revealed that 90% of traditional orchards in the UK have disappeared since the 1950s. We are passionate about using British apples in our apple cider vinegar. Our apples come from 6,500-tree orchard in Hampshire, supporting local growers and keeping UK orchards alive.
